Fridays are a wonderful way to relax and look back on the simple joys of the week. I am so glad for the time I am getting to spend with my kids while preparing for their sibling arrives in a few months. Abby is such a big helper, and William follows me and my husband around like a little copy cat. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

- Take a break from most social media. I’m going to take a break from surfing my feed today because it has been making my anxiety a bit worse (on top of nest instincts kicking in).⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Since the kiddos are home (all the time now lol), I think this calls for a fun day of arts and crafts.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- Today I’m going to take some time for me (been feeling a little blah lately). I’m going to take a shower that is longer than five minutes without rushing to get out. Maybe I’ll even paint my nails pamper myself a little.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
- I might doodle or sketch some to relax. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Digital watercolor has been a creative outlet of mine for the past year, and it honestly has been a great way for me to de-stress and take a little time to myself. Motherhood can be described by so many moments and words. It all comes down to one word for me - love. Unconditional love from the first moments you realize you a bringing this precious new life into this word. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I have two wonderful children that I get to nurture and cherish every day, with a third on the way. But not everyone is as fortunate. A mother isn’t just a person you can see has children. There are those who have lost their little angels. There are women who have sadly outlived their children. Other women have given their child a start at a better life, with another family. And there are those who can’t have children.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This does not make any of them less of a mother. Because a mother isn’t only defined by the act of birth or biological relation. It is a relationship of love.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Sometime we do fun and impulsive things during a time of stress and isolation. My current mood has been to make a visual change to help make me happy when I see myself in the mirror in the morning. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

So I dyed my hair purple (temporarily - I will wash out in 2 months). And I’m happy. Not because changing my hair filled a void, but it’s pretty and a nice change. Something positive to focus on. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Staying motivated and productive is hard sometimes. Especially when working from home, and never really leaving your home. Some mornings, I'll get up and start the day, only to feel exhausted and unmotivated two hours later. And that is okay!⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Taking breaks and pacing yourself in your daily tasks is important. As is listening to your body. When you get down, take a nap or a walk and just relax. You don't have to do everything all-at-once and you can always ask for help.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And it's even okay to have days where you don't really accomplish more than just getting up and covering the basics. Rest and mental health are things you need to budget into your push to be productive.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

There’s never been a better time for this, so sort through that makeup drawer or bag, and get rid of all the impulse purchases you’ve ignored for months (or years!). It is also a good idea to check the dates on your items such as mascara and lip products.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

A day in my life lately is a bit laxer, due to everyone being home, so most days are extended into PJ days or very comfy clothes. As I get farther along in my pregnancy, pants honestly are becoming a daily battle. Leggings or even borrowing my husband's PJ bottoms is an easy go-to, where I don't have to stress over what is or isn't fitting. I am showing so much sooner this time around and it is a big change.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Cleaning and organizing is a daily struggle with everyone home. It is like that saying of trying to brush your teeth while eating an Oreo.... there is always something getting messed up, cluttered, or just lived-in while you are trying to make life a little bit more neat - with so many people around ALL the time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Self-Love and Self-Care are very important. This is something I have been struggling with for a while, not massively but those dark little thoughts like to creep in.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Small things like thinking "I'm a mess today," when I don't get dressed or do anything to my hair. Or talking myself out of outfits, because "I am not cute enough to pull that off".⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Thankfully my husband takes the time to tell me I am wrong. And to remind me each day how beautiful I look, regardless if I spend all day in my PJs, or actually took the time to do my hair and put on some light make-up that day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Not to say those things make me look better, just taking the time to care for myself helps me realize my self-worth a little more. So I have been challenging myself to every day after getting - to always do my skin-care routine, and maybe put on a little make-up, as well as getting a new outfit on and taking to time to eat a small breakfast to start my day off right.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Small steps, but during this time of being so isolated, a bit of normalcy helps my mental health.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

It's Friday! If you are like me, I like to treat myself at the end of the week a little. Nothing much, just a little thing here or there. Sometimes the family focus on a special meal, a movie snuggle fest, or just a group quiet nap in the middle of the day.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have lost count of what week this is...it's the end of month 2 maybe? I think? It's all blending together, plus keeping my weeks of pregnancy straight while having a home reno project and getting ready for little one #3 - it's a crazy mess of information.⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have been working to make weekends feel separate from the rest fo the week when every day around here is mostly the same routine here. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I keep to a sort of schedule, we are trying to stick to the routine the kids have been keeping at school (roughly). And then also throwing in practical ways to learn and be a family around the house.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
We have been watching less live TV and shifted to classic movies and older tv shows instead. We've been introducing the kids to some of our childhood favorites. Toy Story, Jumanji, TMNT (the classics on VHS), and the Magic School Bus is a fan favorite of the kids.. with my husband's wall of movies, we have yet to run out of entertainment.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Baking time has been fun. Getting Abby involved with making muffins and pancakes has been a blast. She loves being a little helper with gathering ingredients and helping mix. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
⁠.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Because I have been more tired further into this pregnancy, my husband has been treating me to takeout meals and other snacks to nibble on! During the week I try and cook, but some times, it is a lot and my husband has enjoyed spoiling me with meals at home (since he doesn't cook many things besides microwavable items). my favorite has been the buy-one, take-one offer from Olive Garden, and it was ah-ma-zing! We split both options and it makes for four meals! 😋⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I know I have been 'stay home, stay safe' a lot in my recent posts - but I say it because it is my wish to you and your family that during this crazy time you truly are safe.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

I totally understand being home ALL THE TIME, especially with kids and a cranky husband. We had plans that have been totally been derailed by this outbreak - summer plans are gone, school is gone, playdates and birthday parties canceled and a husband who is now having to do his night classes via video chat during dinner. Not to mention a full house reno and being pregnant.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Believe me, when I say, I feel your stress and anxiety. We are all learning to handle this new 'normal' and work with what we have. Most of all, we just need to be patient, kind and have consideration for others. I am so thankful we have been able to stay home to not get sick, I am so happy I have a job where I can work from home with my kiddos. I am happy my husband is able to go pick up the items we need and not be too mad at my pregnancy cravings. And most of all, my prayers and thoughts go out to the family, friends and other workers who are daily sacrificing their health to continue working. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
This will not be forever, but it needs to be a 'now' thing. So I'll get off my soapbox now and wish you all, from the bottom of my heart, stay safe and if you can - stay home.⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Since being pregnant, mint tea has been my daily go-to for something to start my day right. It is also one of my safe foods, which helps little one stay calm so I can sit and work on ideas and sketch out designs. Lately, she has been more active, which makes it harder to stay sitting for long periods of time. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

With the kids home, my office is basically anywhere I can sit and work - the bed, the sofa, one of the two desks, or even the car when we are getting out of the house but keeping social distance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Being flexible with my work has been important to me, and I am so glad for the resources I have been using over the past year that until now, where just fun tools and tricks. Now, I can create content for my clients on my phone or iPad as well as my laptop, meaning I am free to be with my kids and not tied to my desk. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Recently I have been working on making resources for others, as well as having art and craft time with my munchkins. Hey there, Monday! Starting the week off can be hard, but know that you don’t have to tackle the full laundry list of items all at once. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

You can plan plenty of ways to be both productive and have time to veg with an episode or two on Netflix. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

One tip that helps me, is not trying to clear out my inbox first thing in the morning. It’s a crazy place and you could very easily get sidetracked. Instead finish up the last few items from the last work day and then when you take a snack break, sort thru it then. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
